Shoplifter Assaults Store Employee, Gets Arrested by Elk Grove Police

Felix Macias Martin.
A Sacramento man suspected of shoplifting was arrested Monday night after he attacked a store employee and tried to evade arrest.

According to Elk Grove Police, 20-year old Felix Macias Martin was observed shoplifting while inside Kohls on Bruceville Road by loss prevention employees.  As he exited the store with the concealed merchandise, he was confronted by the two employees.

Martin allegedly punched one of the employees in the face with a closed fist resulting in a visible injury. Martin then brandished a knife at the employees before fleeing on foot.

Officers arrived and established a perimeter in the area where Martin was last seen. K-9 officers responded to assist in the search, and made multiple announcements of their intent to search the area with the K-9.

Martin was discovered hiding in bushes in front of a residence and refused to surrender after the announcements. Since he was armed with a knife during the robbery, the K-9 was deployed and martin was apprehended.

Martin was positively identified as the person responsible for the robbery. After being cleared for incarceration at a local area hospital, he was booked into the county jail and is not eligible for bail.
