Suspected Shoplifter Attempts to Hit Employee, Gets Arrested by Elk Grove Police

A Sacramento man was arrested late Saturday night after he allegedly tried to shoplift and attack a store employee.

The suspect, 33-year old Jeremy Anderson (pictured above), was observed shoplifting at the Walgreens store on the 7200 block of Laguna Boulevard by a store employee. The employee asked Anderson to pay for the merchandise, but he refused to pay, and as the employee was call 911, he allegedly tried striking the employee.

Responding Elk Grove Police officers located and detained Anderson as he was leaving the business. Anderson reportedly gave false information about his identity and was in possession of the stolen merchandise.

Anderson is being held at the county jail and is not eligible for release. Arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
