Elk Grove Police Arrests Man Suspected of Shoplifting, Biting Store Employees



A suspected shoplifter was arrested Sunday afternoon in Elk Grove after he attempting biting store employees.

According to Elk Grove Police, 32-year old Matthew Collins of Antelope was observed shoplifting at the Nugget grocery store on Elk Grove Boulevard. After leaving the store without paying, two employees approached Collins and attempted to detain him.

Instead of complying, Collins reportedly bit both employees. Responding officers arrested Collins and the merchandise was returned. 

Collins is being held at the county jail and is an extradition hold and not eligible for bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
