An Elk Grove man was arrested yesterday afternoon after he alleged stole a new iPhone and was subdued by witnesses.
According to Elk Grove Police, 19-year old Alton Bruner of Elk Grove contacted the owner of a new iPhone who placed a for sale advertisement on Craigslist to purchase the devise. When Bruner met the 35-year old female victim at a parking lot on the 8700 block of Elk Grove Blvd., he took the phone and fled on foot.
The victim's teenage daughter pursued Bruner and when she caught up with him, he began fighting, dropped the phone and was able to flee.
Several bystanders saw what was taking place and attempted to detain Bruner who fought with the bystanders before fleeing into a residential neighborhood.
Bruner then jumped into a backyard and swung at a neighbor who was outside.
The neighbor was able to wrestle Bruner to the ground and after a brief struggle ensued an additional neighbor assisted in controlling the suspect. Responding officer arrested Bruner who was taken to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
After Bruner was clear for incarceration he was taken to the county jail where he remains in custody on $60,000 bail for felony robbery charges.
