Elk Grove Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Drugs, Phony Money

An early morning traffic stop yesterday by Elk Grove Police led to the arrest of a Sacramento man for more than he likely expected.

According to police reports, 31-year-old Phuong Nguyen was stopped near Sheldon Road and Shasta Lily Drive for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact officers determined that Nguyen did not have a drivers license and was on probation.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of narcotics and counterfeit U.S. currency. Nguyen was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
