Man Sentenced in Videotaped Attack at Donut Shop

District Attorney Jan Scully announced yesterday Donnell Wade was sentenced for his role in a video-taped assault, which occurred in front of Eric’s Donuts on October 1, 2011.

Wade had previously pled guilty to actively committing a crime for the benefit of his criminal street gang, and acknowledged the assault was committed for the benefit of the Valley Hi Piru gang.

Wade will serve one year in county jail with no ability to apply for alternative sentencing, and was placed on 5 years of probation. The victim did not suffer physical injuries, and was not present at the time of sentencing.

The first defendant in the case, Rasaan Ali Zawadi, 21, slapped and punched the woman last Oct. 1 outside Eric's Donuts on Mack Road. Zawadi had previously been sentenced to 240 days in jail and five years probation.
