A man observed jaywalking yesterday morning in Elk Grove was taken into custody after he was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.
When 22-year old Kimauri Washington of Sacramento was observed jaywalking near Power Inn Road and Llanovista Drive, Elk Grove Police officers attempted to contact him and he fled on foot. Officers gave chase and detained him after a brief foot pursuit.
A records check revealed that Washington had an outstanding misdemeanor for battery against a person with a previous dating relationship. Washington was also arrested on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest.
Washington is not currently eligible for release until February 22 and will be arraigned tomorrow afternoon.
