Convicted child molester was sentenced today to 158 years to life in prison.
On November 16, 2015, a jury convicted Chavez of child molest, 18 counts of child molest by force/fear, and four counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years or younger.
Chavez molested a 10-year-old female relative from approximately 2006 to 2012.
The abuse started when the victim was about 6 years old, and took place in both Fresno and Sacramento counties. He threatened that if she told anyone no one would believe her and she would be taken away from her family. The victim suffered in silence for many years, until she found the courage to tell someone during a camping trip in 2014.
