Sacramento Sheriff's Investigating South Sacramento Murder

Early yesterday afternoon the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department was notified of a suspicious dead body in a home on the 7400 block of Gem Street in South Sacramento. 

Sacramento City Fire Department personnel initially responded to a 911 call of a woman down inside of a mobile home. When they arrived, they located a female in her 40’s inside the residence with apparent trauma. They pronounced her deceased at the scene and notified the Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Deputies responded and assessed the scene. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and began their investigation. The front door of the victim’s residence was ajar when she was initially located by a witness. Detectives believe the victim had been deceased for one to four days, and possibly died of major trauma to the body from preliminary observations. The Sacramento County Coroner’s office will make a final determination of the victim’s cause of death.
Detectives are in the beginning stages of the investigation and are treating this as a possible homicide. The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, after notification has been made to her next of kin.
