Elk Grove Police Make Two Separate Wal Mart Shoplifitng Arrests

One arrest involves vehicle enforcement stop

Elk Grove Police were called on to make arrests of two shoplifting suspects at the Elk Grove Wal Mart yesterday.

According to police reports, in the one of the incidents 31-year old Nicole Ballard of Elk Grove was observed shoplifting by store personnel and when confronted by security as she left the store, the suspect fled in a car. Responding officers were able to locate the suspect and initiated an enforcement stop.

Officers detained Ballard and saw the reported stolen merchandise in the back seat of the car. After store personnel positively identified the suspect, she was arrested and transferred to the county jail.

In the other incident, 20-year old Nicole Thomas was detained by store personnel after being observed shoplifting. A records check revealed that Thomas had an active misdemeanor warrant out for her arrest.

The suspect was arrested then issued a misdemeanor citation with a new court date and released.
