Defendant Sentenced for Robbing Elder Man, Stealing Car

Defendant 28-year old Ryan Crow was sentenced to Six years, 8 months in prison on Friday after his conviction for robbing an elderly man.

On September 1, 2015, Crow pled no contest to robbery with an enhancement for committing the crime against an elder man and vehicle theft. On September 27, 2014, the 87-year-old male victim drove two apparently homeless adults, later identified as Crow and Smith, to a restaurant and bought them food. Crow and Smith then asked him for a ride to an apartment complex on Eleanor Street. 

The victim drove them to the complex with Crow in the back passenger seat behind the victim and Smith in the front passenger seat. When the victim started to feel uncomfortable, he asked them both to exit his car. Crow grabbed the victim’s head from behind and pinned his head back against the car seat. The two then stole $1,600 in cash out of the victim’s pocket before jumping out of the car and running into the apartment complex. The victim suffered a bloody mouth and a large scratch on his chest. He informed officers he had collected the money from several properties he owns. 

On January 13, 2015, Smith pled no contest to robbery and sentenced to 364 days county jail. On February 11, 2015, Crow was arrested on a warrant and found to be driving a stolen vehicle. Crow’s criminal history includes three felony vehicle thefts, felony drug possession, driving under the influence and resisting/obstructing a police officer.
