Elk Grove Man Attacked in Home by Homeless Suspect

A homeless man is in custody after he allegedly attacked an Elk Grove man during an attempted burglary.
According to Elk Grove Police, 25-year old Joshua Martinez broke into a car on the 5300 block of Tersk Way at 2 a.m on Sunday. Once inside the car, the suspect used the remote control to open the garage door.

When Martinez entered the garage, the burglary alarm was triggered and he was confronted by the 38-year old male resident of the house. Martinez struck the victim in the face, and in the ensuring struggle, the victim was able to detain the suspect until officers arrived.

Martinez was booked into the county jail where he is being held on a $100,000 bail on first and second degree burglary charges.
