Elk Grove Police 'Arrest Person of Interest' on Homicide Charges

Elk Grove Police announced the person of interest in the murder of an Elk Grove man, was arrested yesterday.


Arrested on suspicion of murdering 75-year old Xihao Huang was 21-year old Kyle Smith. The suspect was already in custody at the Sacramento County Jail for violation of parole.

Huang's body was found on the early afternoon of Thursday, July 25 in a field near Whitelock Parkway and Bellaterra Drive. The victim died after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

During the course of their investigation, Elk Grove Police identified Smith as a person of interest. He had been picked up that same day.

Smith remains in custody at the county jail and is ineligible for bail. He will be arraigned Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in Department 61.
