A suspected shoplifter injured an Elk Grove grocery store worker who was attempted to detain him.
According to Elk Grove Police, 36-year old Kevin Keil of Sacramento was observed shoplifting at the Winco store on Sheldon Road. When the suspect left the store without paying, a loss prevention employees attempted to detain him.
The suspected resisted attempts to detain him, grabbed a folding knife from his pocket and threatened the employees. The employees were able to detain Keil after a brief struggle.
The employees suffered minor injuries while trying to detain him.
A records check revealed that Keil had an active felony warrant out for his arrest.The suspect was medically cleared for incarceration at a local area hospital then transported to the county jail where he is being held and is ineligible for bail.
