Man Injured by EGPD K9 Following Domestic Violence Incident

An Elk Grove man was arrested following a domestic violence incident early Thursday morning that involved the use of a K9 unit.

According to Elk Grove Police, 20-year old Luis Zarabia grabbed his victim by the hair, punched the victim in the head several times and attempted to choke the victim several times. After the victim called the police, Zarabia left the residence.

After contacting the victim who suffered visible injuries, officers determined that aside from the alleged attack, Zarabia has an active felony warrant out for his arrest. Officers established a perimeter and an EGPD police K9 arrived to assist in searching for S-1.

The police K9 apprehended the suspect who was found hiding in some bushes alongside a residence a short distance away from victim's residence. Zarabia was arrested then transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment of injuries sustained during the K9 deployment.

Once cleared for incarceration, Zarabia was transported to the main jail where he remains in custody.
