The Elk Grove Community Connection (EGCC) will be holding a town hall meeting on proposed sports complex planned as a major component of the city of Elk Grove Civic Center project.
This important meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Elk Grove City Hall council chambers beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a meet ‘n greet networking reception. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
This forum will be co-hosted and facilitated by Elk Grove Mayor Vice Jim Cooper and City Council member Gary Davis. “The potential for an Elk Grove Sports Complex to infuse our local economy is huge," Council Member Gary Davis said. "The timing could not be better as we are working to build a strong and balanced community.”
Special guests include Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Director Rod Brewer.
Presentations will include examples of highly successful sports complexes. Topics to be covered include: Are there economic benefits to Elk Grove?; How long would it take for Elk Grove to build a sports complex?; What ideas do you have regarding a sports complex in Elk Grove? The meeting will also include a panel discussion from the various Elk Grove Leagues. After presentations, there will be an interactive question and answer period.
“Sports, and especially youth sports, has been my life-long passion,” states Cooper. “Our goal is to bring a state-of-the-art sports complex to Elk Grove that will be the ultimate recreational and competitive venue for adult and youth sports, with large competitive tournaments that will attract visitors from all over the State of California and beyond.”
“The EGCC,” explains founding member Connie Conley “is a community group comprised of Elk Grove residents with diverse opinions but with the one goal; to bring residents and their leaders together, working to build a renewed and more powerful, sustainable community where respect, partnership and connection are at the heart of Elk Grove’s way of life.”
