South Sac Gang Members Found Guilty of Attempted Murder, Could Face Life

District Attorney Jan Scully announced that a jury convicted five defendants of four counts of premeditated attempted murder.


The jury also found true that the crimes were committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang and that one of the defendants personally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury to two separate victims. The five convicted were Danny Do, Conrad Johnson, Lam Luong, Roderick Randall and Jhordan Villanuva.

On January 12, 2012, the defendants were at a shopping center located at the intersection of 65th Str. and 53rd Ave. in Sacramento. The shopping center is a known hangout and territory of the street gangs KZT and Viet Pride.

Several of the defendants noticed a rival gang member buying water inside of one of the businesses. They confronted him and challenged him to fight.When several more rival gang members arrived at the scene,Lam Luong and Conrad Johnson produced fiearms and shot at them, striking one in the headand one in the buttocks.

All five defendants face a possible maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is set for March 20 and 27, 2014 before the Honorable Allen Sumner.
