Suspicious Circumstances Surround Two Killed in Fire

Suspect Abraham Felmley
Sacramento County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are involved in the investigation of a house fire that occurred in south Sacramento County earlier yesterday. Arson investigators from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department contacted the Sheriff's Department shortly after 11:30 a.m. yesterday, after discovering two deceased men inside a burned residence in the 7300 block of French Road.

Early in the investigation, information surfaced regarding a vehicle that was missing from outside of the residence, and could not be accounted for. Due to the fact that the cause of the fire could not immediately be determined, Homicide detectives accompanied a Sacramento Metro Fire arson investigator who was processing the scene and searching for evidence regarding the source and cause of the fire.

Several hours later, detectives received information regarding a carjacking that occurred in the city of Merced, between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. The victim of that carjacking was fishing near Highway 152 when a man pulled up in a white pickup truck, got out, and demanded the victim's phone and keys to his vehicle at gunpoint. The truck that the suspect was in was determined to be the same vehicle missing from the fire scene on French Road.

The carjacking suspect fled in the victim's vehicle, described as a 1992 green Toyota Camry with paper license plates. Further investigation led to the victim identifying the suspect as Abraham Felmley, a man related to the two deceased victims inside the burned home. Homicide detectives are considering Felmley to be a "person of interest" in this case, and would like to speak with him based on his possession of the vehicle reportedly taken from the scene.

Officially, the cause of the fire will be determined by Sacramento Metro Fire arson investigators, and the cause of death for both victims will be determined by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. It is not definitively known whether the victims in the home died as a result of the fire or by some other means. The identity of the victims in this case will be released by the coroner's office, after notification has been made to their next of kin.

Abraham Felmley is a wanted parolee, and described as a white male adult, 6' tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. Anyone having information pertinent to this case or knowing the whereabouts of Abraham Felmley is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115.
