An Elk Grove man who tried to take advantage of the kindness of another, was arrested yesterday.
According to Elk Grove Police reports, 25-year-old Marlon Ray Markham of Elk Grove asked his 23-year old femalevictim to give him a ride out of town and to borrow some money. After picking up Markham, the victim was asked to drive to a park near the 5800 block of Laguna Quail Way.
While parked in the car, an unknown black male suspect approached the car and demanded the victims money. The victim dropped the money on the floorboard at which time the Markham grabbed the money and tore a gold necklace off her neck.
When the victim tried to drive away, the suspect kept putting the car in park and would not let her drive away. Once she was able to retain control, Markham left the car and fled the area on foot
Responding officers were unable to locate the unknown suspect but did arrest Markham later in the evening. Markham is being held on $70,000 bail at the county jail.
