Man Bites Dog; Elk Grove man arrested after K-9 encounter

An Elk Grove man was arrested late Thursday night after an encounter with a K-9 unit from the Elk Grove Police Department.

According to police department reports, 47-year old Bradley Dawe was observed by a witness in an alley on the 9000 block of El Oro Plaza. Once he was observed, Dawe became agitated and aggressively approached the victim with a knife.

Fearing for his safety, the witness retreated to his residence and called police. Responding officers located the suspect a short distance away and made contact with him.

Upon contact, the suspect reportedly refused to cooperate and would not remove his hands from his pocket. At that time officers deployed the K-9 unit believing the suspect was still armed.

During his encounter with the K-9, Dawe's reportedly tried to choke the dog. Dawe's was then taken into custody, positively identified and treated for minor injuries after his K-9 encounter. 

There was no reported injury to the K-9.
