Elk Grove Police Seek Drive-By Shooters

The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that happened early Sunday evening.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle collision with possible gun shots heard on the 8400 block of Dandelion Drive. Responding officers arrived and discovered a white Acura MDX had collided with two parked vehicles.

Officer discovered the Acura had rolled onto the passenger side and was unoccupied when they arrived. While officers were speaking with witnesses, medical personnel located the vehicles two occupants a short distance away.

According the two Acura occupants, they were driving on Dandelion Drive when they observed a black Honda in front of them. A passenger in the Honda then leaned out the passenger side and began shooting at the Acura.

The driver of the Acura swerved to avoid the gunshots and hit two parked vehicles. Fearing for their safety, they fled the area.

The Honda was occupied by at least two Asian males and drove away from the scene. The two occupants of the Acura sustained minor injured as a result of the collision.

Detectives responded to the location and are conducting follow-up into the assault.
