Elk Grove Police Investigate Attempted Kidnapping

12-year old targeted

On August 20, 2010 at 8:39 p.m., the Elk Grove police department responded to an attempted kidnapping that had taken place in the 10000 block of Van Brocklin Way.

Officers contacted the 12-year old boy who indicated that he was riding his bike on Van Brocklin Way when a gray colored Toyota Tundra truck pulled up next to him. According to the victim, the vehicle stopped and the driver opened the passenger door from the inside the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle then told the boy to get in the truck and grabbed him by the arm. When the suspect tried to pull the victim into the vehicle, the victim pulled away from the stranger and rode away on his bicycle.

The driver of the truck was described as a Caucasian male adult, 30`s, 5’5” tall, skinny build with blonde hair and a 2-3 inch long scar near the right ear. The suspect was wearing a black shirt with dark blue pants. The victim also indicated that the interior of the pickup truck smelled of alcohol.

The pickup was described as having a gray metallic camper shell with dark tinted windows. There was also a large dent on the right rear fender near the rear wheel. The vehicle had large profile off road type tires with “shinny” silver rims.

Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00. Tips can also be sent via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 (agency identification number) and the message.
